Medallion Ordering Process

Our medallions are high quality castings.

The Medallion ordering process is simple and straightforward. We ask you to allow 5 weeks for delivery of new orders, and 3 weeks for an exact re-order. Orders can be expedited, but it will cost you an additional rush delivery charge. Please read the paragraphs below to become familiar with the ordering process.

Select a Medallion Category

The first thing you will do is to decide which category of medallion you want to buy. The main categories that we provide are listed in the navigation menu to the left. If you do not see the medallion you want, please contact us. We may be able to accomodate your special needs.

Decide Medallion Finish, Shape, Size & Quantity

We offer 3 main medallion finishes: Antique Bronze, Antique Gold, and Antique Silver. Refer to the picture below to see what they look like. Other finishes are available upon special request.

3 Main Medallion Finishes

Typical shapes are round, as in circular or oval, or angular, as in square, or hexagonal. Note that when you go to purchase your medallion through our online catalog, round and angular medallions are in separate categories. This is because of differences in shipping weights. You must also decide how many medallion faces you want (single or double).

Typical Medallion Shapes

We have 11 different medallion sizes (in inches): 1, 1.25, 1.5, 1.75, 2, 2.25, 2.5, 2.75, 3, 3.25, and 3.5. The more design elements you want on your medallion, the bigger it will have to be. Our standard Memorial medallions are 1.5" in size. Note that the size of irregularly shaped medallion products is determined by the measure from the (2) longest points.

Now decide how many medallions you will need. The pricing is structured to offer significant discounts for greater quantities. We normally sell by lot sizes of 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, 175, 200, 300, 400, 500, 750, and 1000. As a special service only to Funeral Homes, we sell a lot of 10. These preset quantities will satisfy most customers. If you do not see a lot size that will satisfy your needs, please contact us.

Medallion Design & Submittal

The medallion category will more or less dictate the design elements. Most medallions will be one of the four basic shapes. Medallions can be double-faced (both sides have content like a coin) or single-faced. Words can be placed to follow medallion edges or horizontally like the words in this paragraph. Refer to this diagram that shows typical medallion layouts along with the terminology that describes word and image positions. In order for us to manufacture your medallion, the design must be available to us in a proper electronic computer format. See the note below about the maximum size of an image file.

You may submit your design (words and layout) in the proper computer format yourself, or we can do it for you for an additional fee. If you furnish artwork, it must be black and white vector art at minimum ratio of 2:1. All artwork should be submitted as electronic vector art with all images (always use highest quality JPG format for images) embedded and fonts converted to outlines or curves. Artwork is accepted in the following software format versions:

FREEHAND 10 – ILLUSTRATOR 10 – COREL DRAW 10

If you want us to put your medallion design in the proper electronic format, we have created an online form within the catalog shopping cart that enables you to send us the design information (words, layout, and pictures). During the checkout process you will be prompted to enter the desired text for each of the various word and image regions on a medallion. Refer to the Medallion Layout page to familiarize yourself with the possible medallion text and image locations. When you are ready to purchase a set of medallions, click on the Catalog link at the bottom of each product page.

If your medallion design includes casting a person's picture onto one or both sides, there is a separate "photo image processing" artwork charge per order to do that. The ideal picture is a clear, close, in-focus head shot, where the area containing the head and upper torso is at least 3" x 3" in size.

You must scan a traditional photograph to obtain an electronic image. The image file created must be a very high quality JPG file. The minimum resolution of the scanned photograph must be 300 dots per inch. The maximum file size is 2000KB. If your image is bigger than that, please have it cropped or decrease its size by optimizing down to no less than 80% quality in your favorite image editing software application (e.g. Photoshop, Fireworks, PaintShopPro, etc).

If you do not have access to a scanner, please visit your local office center where image scanning service is available.

If you have a digital picture, it must have been taken with a digital camera that has a minimum resolution of 5 megapixels.

If you can provide the proper artwork (words and layout in a vector file as described above), then just email it as an attachment(s) to orders@prememories.com after you have paid for your order through our online catalog checkout system. You may also mail us a CD. Make sure you include your name, phone number, medallion quantity, finish, size, and texture so that we may pair your submittal with your online payment.

Most customers will want us to create the artwork. In this case, please fill out the Design Information form as you checkout. This form will appear at the bottom of the initial checkout page. Note that some of the fields at the top of the form are required. If you have an image file(s) to send us, click on the Submit Medallion Pictures link in the Design Information form (this will open a separate browser window allowing you to send the pictures at the same time you are paying for the medallion); fill in the requested information; then click on the Submit Pictures button to email us the electronic image file(s). Finish filling in the Medallion Design Information form and then click the Continue button. This will bring up the final checkout page where you enter your credit card information and complete the purchasing process.

Detailed "How to Order" Procedure

We have created a detailed procedure, with screenshots, that shows you how to order a Memorial Medallion along with a few assessories. If you need help with ordering, open this PDF file, print off a copy, and follow the directions.

Requested Ship Date

One of the fields to fill out in the design information order form is "Requested Ship Date". When you provide a date for this field, please make sure that the shipping method (UPS ground, 2nd day, overnight, etc.) you purchase allows the medallions enough time to get to their destination in time for the event. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that the order ship date is specified correctly to arrive on time. To help you determine shipping transit times for UPS Ground to different parts of the U.S. from our factory in Ohio, please consult our UPS shipping chart.

Acknowledgement of Order

All orders are acknowledged in writing by fax or email once we have received the customer provided artwork or medallion design information submitted by the customer, and the order payment. If you do not receive an acknowledgement from PreMemories, then you are to assume that your order has not been received and entered. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that their order has been received and entered.

Approval of Artwork

At this stage of the process, if you submitted medallion design information via our forms, we will email you a copy of the artwork in JPG format that we have created based upon your input. You shall view the artwork for any mistakes or changes you would like. We will correct our mistakes at no additional charge. See our policy for artwork changes if you want to revise the design. To provide approval, you will need to send us (orders@prememories.com ) an email giving us your approval.

Approval to Manufacture

Once we receive your artwork (submitted in proper format by customer) or approval of the artwork created by us per your design information, and payment has been confirmed, then we will have your beautiful medallions manufactured and shipped on the requested date.
